His first professional gig was at a popular Miami Beach club called Crobar. Crobar was a Chicago transplant built in the renovated Cameo Theatre. In the year 2000 House Music dominated Friday and Saturday nights at the big clubs. If you wanted to hear hip hop you had to go out on a Thursday or Sunday night.
His brother Jobar saw an opportunity to take Thursdays at Crobar and turn them into something special. When he went looking for a DJ he didn’t have to look far. At the time Ruckus was only 15 years old and his only experience was DJ’ing birthdays and parties thrown by friends.
Despite DJ Ruckus’ limited experience and 1 crate record collection, Jobar genuinely saw a talent in his brother. Before getting started Ruckus needed a payment advance in order to buy enough records to DJ through an entire night. In a relatively short amount of time he became the resident DJ of the city’s most popular Hip Hop night.
True to his name he has been causing a commotion in just about every style of music ever since. He plays between 120 and 150 shows per year and is showing no signs of slowing down.
