Vault is everything Yakir loves under one roof, except the one thing that he loves the most: shoes. For him collecting shoes is not about owning as many shoes as possible, it’s about owning the right pairs. He loves shoes that are difficult to find and strictly avoids anything trendy. In his opinion Karl Lagerfeld said it best “Trendy is the last stage before tacky.”
What started as a hobby has now turned into an obsession. Yakir is an admitted “Sneaker Head.” He doesn’t keep track of how many pairs of shoes he has… but it is a lot.
Like most Sneaker Heads he keeps track of when the next important pair of shoes will drop and makes arrangements to acquire them. He has never spent the night on a sidewalk waiting for a shoe but he has paid someone else to stand in line for him.
There are 2 types of Sneaker Heads in the world. The kind that collects for commerce and the kind that collects because they love the shoes. Yakir is the latter. He wears almost every pair of shoes in his collection and will not entertain any offers to sell them.
His obsession with can easily be summed up by his latest purchase. He recently bought 3 different pairs of the Yeezys (2 Nikes & 1 Adidas) for several thousand dollars.
“I would much rather be short a few thousand dollars in my bank account than be somewhere and see someone with the shoes I want to be wearing.”
The man has a passion and there is no arguing with that.
Yakir sees watch collectors everyday and as far as he’s concerned there is no comparison. Sneaker Heads are far more passionate about their collections and will go to almost any length to get a pair of shoes they are after. He doesn’t see that same level of conviction in watch collectors. This must be true because he will sell you a Richard Mille but don’t ask him to sell you a pair of Jordans.
